Do I Need to Lose All of My Teeth Before I Can Get Dental Implants?
Dental implants are the perfect solution for missing teeth. Whether you have one missing tooth, or several, we can provide you with dental implant services specific to your tooth loss. We provide single tooth implants, multiple tooth implants, and the All-on-4® Treatment Concept. You do not need to wait until you lose all of your teeth to seek dental implant placement, as there are many choices and options available depending on the amount of teeth you need to replace.
Can I Ignore My Missing Teeth?
If you have missing teeth, you should not ignore them. Some people think missing teeth doesn’t matter or make a difference, especially if they are molars in the back that no one can see are missing. The truth is, missing teeth is serious and equals bone loss. Bone loss is important because this is what supports your mouth and your teeth. If you are missing teeth, there is nothing there to continually stimulate your jawbone. Thus, like a muscle, your jawbone will begin to atrophy, weaken, and shrink. Without something there to constantly support it, like a tooth, your jaw bone will continue to deteriorate.
What Are Some of the Benefits of Dental Implants?
The benefits of dental implants are vast. As already mentioned, dental implants will help strengthen your jawbone. Dental implants look and feel like your natural teeth, so you will treat them as such. All you need to do in order to maintain your dental implants is continue with the same oral hygiene routine as before. This includes brushing your teeth twice a day, and flossing at least once per day. There are no special cleaning routines, scrubbing, or soaking included with dental implants. Because dental implants are permanent, there is no fear of them moving or shifting around, as can often be the case with dentures. And since they are permanent, this gives them a strong support in your mouth. You can eat and drink whatever you like, without any restrictions. You can bite into hard foods that you may not have been able to with missing teeth or dentures. No more avoiding your favorite foods or chewing on the other side of your mouth.
Do Dental Implants Need to Be Replaced?
Dental implants have a success rate of up to 98% and are meant to last a lifetime! Sometimes, after several years, the crown on top of your dental implant may need to be replaced, but this is normal. In very rare cases, dental implants can fail and dental implant replacement is necessary, but this does not happen very often.
