Sheema Akhtar, DDS, MS
Dr. Sheema Akhtar earned her doctorate from New York University College of Dentistry and is a lifetime member of OKU, the National Dental Honor Society. As a dental student in the Implant Honors program, she received the International Congress of Oral Implantology (ICOI) and Camlog USA® Dental Pre-doctoral award for demonstrating exemplary talent and level of skill in dental implant surgery. She completed one year of a General Practice Residency program in Hackensack hospital in New Jersey and has private practice experience as a general dentist. She went on to receive her specialty certification in Periodontics and her Masters of Science degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore. Prior to dental school, she graduated with a major in History from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Dr. Akhtar prides herself on her integrity and sincere desire to provide her patients with the utmost attention and evidence-based care. She also strongly believes in giving back to the community. She has been involved with Baltimore-based community outreach programs and has participated in dental outreach programs abroad.
In addition to volunteer work, Dr. Akhtar enjoys long distance running and exploring nature with her rescue cat, Hu-chu Pepper.
